First padel game booked and now wondering what on earth you’re supposed to wear?
Good news. There’s no complicated dress code.
The best padel outfit is something you feel comfortable moving in, with the right footwear and, ideally, something you actually feel good in too.
Here’s our guide.
What do women wear to play padel?
You’ll see pretty much every variation of activewear on a padel court.
Tennis skirts and skorts, shorts, leggings, sports dresses, vests, T-shirts and lightweight layers all work.
If it’s your first game, there’s absolutely no need to buy a whole new padel wardrobe. Your favourite gym or activewear will probably do the job perfectly.
Although if you want an excuse for a new outfit, we fully support that too.
Do I need padel shoes?
Not necessarily for your first game.
A supportive pair of trainers with good grip should be fine while you’re trying padel for the first time.
If you start playing regularly, proper padel or court shoes are worth considering. They’re designed for the quick changes of direction and side-to-side movement you’ll make on court.
In other words, maybe leave the lifestyle trainers at home.
What should I wear for outdoor padel?
British weather likes to keep things interesting.
For outdoor courts, layers are your friend.
A sweatshirt or lightweight jacket is perfect for warming up and throwing back on after your game. In summer, think breathable fabrics, shorts, skirts and plenty of SPF.
And always check the forecast before leaving the house. We’ve learnt this one the hard way.
What else should I bring?
You really don’t need much.
A few things we rarely head to court without:
Water bottle. Hair tie or headband. Padel racquet. Padel balls. Sunglasses for outdoor games. A tote for throwing everything into.
And potentially somewhere good for coffee afterwards.
Essential.
The most important rule?
Wear something you feel good in.
One of the things we love about padel is that it doesn’t have to feel overly serious or intimidating.
Your outfit should let you move, play and enjoy yourself.
For us, what happens around the game is part of the fun too. The outfit, the friends, the coffee afterwards and inevitably discussing when you can all play again.
That’s the SERVE way.
Serve your style.
See you on court.
